Repubs Shamed Into Debate

It’s been a few days since the Republican debate on Univision.  Yep!  They finally agreed that the “immigrant” vote was worth something… all of the candidates except Tancredo.

From all accounts the candidates toned down their rhetoric on illegal immigration.  What else would they do under the circumstances?

That’s one of the things I’ve noticed about all the candidates, both Dems and Repubs.  They talk a hard talk until they are face to face with the ones they are talking about.  Then, they all have a tendency to get a little honey in their mouths…. like we can’t watch everything they say on television or read it online.  Did the Republican candidates during the Miami debate think for one instant that the attendees didn’t know exactly what had been said in the past?

It’s time that both parties owned up to their values and their opinions, loud and clear, before all Americans.  If they would stop all the double talk, the slipping and sliding around the real issues, perhaps we, as voters wouldn’t be so sidetracked and distracted by race, gender and religion.  Or, maybe that’s where they want us to be.
