Republican Debate - Iowa
I had fallen into a coma by the time the “debate” was half over. I don’t know if it was from boredom or frustration. Either way, folks, we have a problem. I’m always stymied by the time one of these fiascoes is over. But, I learned quite a bit…. I think. The Republican candidates have a listening comprehension problem. Granted, the moderator left something to be desired, was definitely out of her league, but no one answered a question.
The best analysis I can come up with is that Huckabee has found a coach. His answers were filled with Bible references that could only appeal to the most conservative evangelicals. I mean when he confessed that he couldn’t part the Red Sea but could part the red tape I wanted to gag. How cute.
On the other hand, Romney spent his time trying to kiss up to the Iowa voters as if they couldn’t see right through it.
Thompson was a bit of a bore, but all he seems to know is that he walks tall and carries a big stick. Geez…. we just don’t need another cowboy in Washington. (And, we aren’t too thrilled about the possibility of his coming back to Tennessee either.)
Tancredo’s comments on the taped snippet that was played confirmed that he should have received the 1-Y deferment instead of going to Viet Nam … or he was mimicking that poor young lady from South Carolina who couldn’t answer the question about map reading.
Hunter wants to be a contractor. He is concerned more with building the Great Fence of the Southern Border than anything else.
Guiliani didn’t say “9-1-1″ once. I suppose he is rather bored with the question about the NY bookkeeping. It’s old news and we are all a little bored with it and with him.
McCain was McCain and you have to like him for that. But, he’s stuck in the war ideology and can’t seem to focus beyond that.
Ron Paul is about as good as it gets on the Republican side of things. He is a Libertarian, no matter what anyone says.
And, who knows how to define Keyes? He was there for one reason and that was to recite the same lines over and over again. However, I will say one thing. He was right about being overlooked more often than not.
My question is a simple one. When are we going to see a debate? Does anyone know what that means?
