McCain and Clinton Endorsements
The Des Moines Register’s endorsement of John McCain and Hillary Clinton should have come as no surprise, but as a bit of a disappointment.
John McCain’s time has come and gone. He’s an honorable man with a track record that says something about his character, but if he should become the Republican party’s nominee the party is doomed. We will be in Iraq for longer than he served in Viet Nam.
I like McCain, but I suppose he’s just too conservative for this old dog. We don’t need any more warriors in Washington. We don’t need a plan to win the war. We need a plan to get the hell out of Iraq before we lose any more of our brave young men and women in a sacrificial effort that has no resolution. That means we don’t need a Republican on Pennsylvania Avenue.
Mrs. Clinton may well be prepared to be president, but she scares me. If you had heard her do her best “down home” southern accent last summer when she was in the deep south, you would know just how fake she can be. I didn’t know if she was really trying to be “one of us” or if she was making fun of us. Folks, I’m a southern girl and proud of it. I was embarrassed for her or offended by her mockery.
Well, thank goodness, the Des Moines Register isn’t the only vote that counts.
