Thank You to TagALLY

Sometimes you just have to say “Thank YOU” and this is one of those times.

I recently installed a Tag Cloud on this site.  It’s about half way down the Sidebar.  I love the colors and the design.  BUT… I don’t know jack about “php” or “xml” or “abc” for that matter.  I have never written a “code” in my life, beyond a little “html” on an auction site.  And, I used a cheat sheet then.

So, like most things I do when it comes to a computer, I tried and I did the best I could.  The instructions were pretty straightforward …. if you know anything about code.  Not to be detered, I did what I thought was right.  And, POOF… one installation later, it looked good!  I mean, I loved the colorful tag cloud… Of course, there was one little thing.  It looked pretty, but it didn’t do everything it was supposed to do.  Of course, when you don’t know what something does, it’s pretty darned hard to tell is it works right or not.  I had a pretty good idea what it was supposed to do…. not in geek terms, but in the terms a sixty year old would understand.  And… again…. it looked real good sitting on the sidebar.

So, this morning when I turned the computer on there is a “comment” from TagALLEY suggesting I add a line of code (ha!) to the header.  Well, first of all I have overcome the notion that I can break something that can’t be fixed, thanks to a dear friend who knows more about computers than I have time to learn.  So… I tried to add the code, but first of all I had to find “header”.  I found it.  I added it.  Not sure I added it in the right place, but I copied the “code” into the “header”.  I still don’t know what that means or why I was supposed to do it.  But, I did it.  And, now the Tag Cloud does what it is supposed to do.

But, I’m not writing about my abilities to follow instructions.  I am posting this to say THANK YOU to TagALLY, who has sent me four emails bringing the problem to my attention, giving me instructions on how to fix it, and following up to help me resolve another question I had.  And, that help came after I emailed them and told them I don’t know jack about what I’m trying to do or how to do it.

I have to say, I am impressed.  In the past, I have scared off a couple of other sites, including Amazon, once they realized I was a novice.  Most just won’t return your call or won’t return emails.

Thank you, guys!  (and girls?)  Thank you!  It is wonderful to see someone who will volunteer help when they see the need.

And, by the way…. I love the Tag Cloud!
