Too Close to Call

I’ve watched the polls go up and down and up and down, each candidate rising and falling faster than the ocean tide.  If there has been one interesting point to this exercise it has been that most of the media outlets have spent hours speculating about winners and losers, who will still be in the race and what a first place will mean to one and a second place to another.

The truth of the matter is that the political pundits, the statistical gurus, and you and I have absolutely no idea who will come out on top in the Iowa caucuses.  And, that said, I don’t think anyone, not even the candidates know what it will mean for them in New Hampshire.

For me, I’m going to watch West Virginia play football tonight, get a good night’s sleep, get up late in the morning, walk the dog, cook breakfast, lunch and dinner…. then sit on the edge of my seat tomorrow night into the morning if necessary to see who rises to the top in Iowa.  I’ll probably stay up the rest of the night along with the news readers trying to analyse every nuance and facial expression, trying to determine if I see our next president in the group of winners.

By the way, as complicated as it may seem, I like the idea of a caucus.  At least, there are no hanging chads!
