Huckabee Takes Iowa
Mike Huckabee is the winner in the Republican Caucus in Iowa. So, what does that mean for the rest of us? If it means anything, I’m guessing it probably comes closer to meaning that Mitt Romney is toast than it does that Huckabee is the likely Republican National Candidate.
I don’t say that simply because I think he is totally unsuited for the office of President, but because I don’t believe… I can’t believe… the rest of the country is so reliant on a person’s stated Christianity as the most important quality to be elected President. Once again, it seems that the evangelicals came out in droves to vote for the perceived Christian.
I hope somewhere along the campaign trail… New Hampshire, perhaps? …. that someone will realize that he doesn’t know jack about foreign policy (such as what’s happening in Pakistan). And, that’s just for starters.
We can watch Joel Olsteen or Benny Hinn or John Hagee on television when we need a “hallelujah” fix. We don’t need another President who is philosophically opposed to science or who believes that “gay” and “pedophile” are complementary words to be used synonymously.
Okay, so much for the rant. Huckabee won Iowa and that is that. He’s had his fifteen minutes of fame. Now, let’s all pray that New Hampshire votes for John McCain, if only for the sake of keeping it interesting.
