The Decider Wanders Desert with Hat in Hand
Well, “The Decider” has evidently made another bad decision. He decided to sell $20B worth of arms, Patriot missiles, satellite-guided missiles, and high tech munitions to the Saudis and then beg them to lower oil prices.
Bring the idiot home and return him to his village. He doesn’t need to be running loose in the Mid-East threatening Iran, whether overtly or subtly. He doesn’t need to be selling arms to another country in the Middle East, even if the Royal Family of Saudi Arabia considers him a brother. And, he sure as hell doesn’t need to be begging them for lower oil prices.
Let’s get real for a moment. First we fought along side the Taliban in Afghanistan against the Russians. Then we fought against the Taliban… and continue to. They are using our old weapons against us today. We sold arms to Iraq and then both Bush 41 and Bush 43 felt the need to fight with them. Okay, so maybe 41 had a little more right to fight. Kuwait, a friend and alley for a while, was about to be overrun by Saddam’s army and requested some assistance. Now, Bush 43 has overthrown Saddam and we continue to fight within Iraq, a country that we armed. Okay… so let’s arm Saudi Arabia. Anyone guess what comes next?
Maybe once Bush 43 leaves office he will go to Saudi Arabia and consult on some of their projects. That’s what Daddy did. And, he can be in the Middle East as Halliburton (and Cheney in all probability) move to Dubai.
But, for the present, Bush 43 is wandering around in the deserts of the Middle East dressed in native Arab garb on occasion, begging for lower oil prices. All the while he is making a fool of himself. One day he bullies the Iranians, the next day he begs from the Saudis. That’s okay as far as I’m concerned if he wants to do that on his own time… after January 20, 2009. But, for now, The Decider is still representing our nation, and his rhetoric and behavior is unacceptable. And, it’s downright embarrassing.
And, what the hell does this mean? It is the clarification of a statement he made to OPEC and I quote:
I would like for them to realize that high energy prices affect the economies of consuming nations. And that if these economies weaken, those economies will eventually be buying fewer barrels of oil. And having said that, there is not a lot of excess capacity in the marketplace. What’s happened is, is that demand for energy has outstripped new supply. And that’s why there’s high price. And I fully understand how it affects the U.S. consumer. And my point to His Majesty is going to be, when consumers have less purchasing power because of high prices of gasoline — in other words, when it affects their families — it could cause this economy to slow down. If the economy slows down, there will be less barrels of oil purchased.
I repeat my question. What the hell does that mean?
At the same time Condelezza Rice is in Iraq because….
It’s to, first of all, be there. And secondly, is to — there’s a momentum, there’s a political process that has been working that is — with some of those laws coming to fruition. Her job is to be there, sitting down with them, explaining how much we appreciate what they’ve done, how they need to do more. And keep moving the process.
That was Bush’s explanation of what Condi does. She is the “be there” person. What a good use of our Secretary of State. Aren’t we proud?
I’m going to end this piece now. I swear, I could go on forever, but even I get worn out with some of The Decider’s decisions. And, it is really such an embarrassing time in our country’s history that I don’t want to be accused of being one of those who recorded it.
