Kucinich Won’t Appear on Texas Ballots

The Democratic Party in Texas will not allow Dennis Kucinich to appear on the primary ballots.  Their decision was upheld by the Texas Supreme Court.

Why?  Dennis crossed out the loyalty oath that is required by the Democratic Party and would have enabled him to have his name on the ballot.  The loyalty oath states that he would “fully support” the party’s eventual nominee.

What does it matter?  Who cares?  Well, we should all care.  Dennis Kucinich should not be forced to say that he will support anyone, particularly a candidate whose name is not presently known, in order for his name to appear on the ballot.  It’s a small caveat and some say that Dennis doesn’t have a snowflakes chance in Texas of winning the party’s nomination.  And, he may not.  But, he should have the opportunity to run… to have his name on the ballot.

But, I suppose that’s how Congress got so screwed up with all the pork barrel spending.  I’ll promise you this… if you give me that.

Why would we try to force a candidate to lie to get what he wants… assuming Dennis doesn’t want to support the party’s eventual candidate?  There’s a price to pay for being honest.  Perhaps, that’s why there are so many liars in Washington.  If they have to lie to get there, why would we expect honesty once they arrive?
