Dennis Goes Home to Ohio

Well, I guess one thing is all but settled.  Dennis Kucinich will announce on Friday that he is officially out of the Democratic race to the White House.  I have been questioning his whereabouts for weeks and finally conceded (mentally) that the media had buried him.  In fact, they have and they did.

I’m not going to pretend that I thought Dennis could win the party nomination.  But, who knows?  This is America.  Well, it used to be and anything is possible, was possible.  In this land of equal opportunity, where some things are more equal than others, Dennis was denied almost every opportunity to get his campaign off the launching pad.

The media must be jumping for joy.  Dennis was the most liberal of all candidates and never bit his lip before speaking.  He was honest and if we disagreed with some of his more liberal ideas [emphasis on if], he made the first cut and had his name on the ballots in Iowa and in New Hampshire.  It would seem in a contest of personalities, and that’s all the media is interested in… the personalities, Dennis should have at least been able to show his to the nation.

It almost seems predetermined that Dennis would receive the media ax and I’m sure it took a little longer than anyone could have expected.  There are two unfortunate facts that come from Dennis’s exit stage far left.  He wasn’t given equal time to explain his policy plans and now the media is left solely to focus on John Edwards.  Don’t get excited.  That doesn’t mean they will give him equal air time with the celebs.  It means that now they can put 100% focus on getting him out of the race.

If successful, the media will have done the bidding of big business.  And, that’s exactly who they represent, isn’t it?  In fact, if anyone dared think that lobbying is on the decline, just look at media coverage.  The big three broadcast networks, perhaps a little more discreetly than FOX, managed to kill Dennis’s chances of even making it to a primary debate after the first one or two.  Of course, the reason was his lack of poll numbers.  But, wasn’t it the media who controlled most of the polls?

John, beware.  You are the next media hit!
