McCain Meets the Press (and Should Have Stayed Home)
Ok, so amid all the anticipation and excitement of seeing a real Democrat in Tennessee, I took a little time over the weekend to look over the Republican runners. John McCain has been making the rounds and was seen on the Sunday television circut. After watching the Republican debate last week, I was rather interested to compare my notes against his Meet the Press interview with Tim Russert.
I will admit that I have trouble balancing my checkbook from time to time, but after doing a little research on McCain, he wouldn’t be my “go to guy”. And, he wants to talk about economic policy. Well, duh! It was rather tiresome hearing him read the honor roll of chronies who would tell him what to do with our nation’s faltering economy. Fact is, he probably has no more idea how to fix the economic crisis than the bum next door.
There was a time when McCain admitted that he knew little about economic policy, before it was an issue that will be on the next president’s plate. McCain wants to be president. Ergo, McCain is now an economist… of a sort. To sum up. Once upon a time he told the truth, then he told a lie, then he tried to explain away the lie by parsing words and telling another lie… and what does all this mean? It means that McCain lies. So, if he did come up with an economic plan, who the hell would believe him?
I was able to discern one thing about McCain, other than the fact that he lies and then lies to cover up the other lies, and that is if he should, God forbid, be elected president the War in Iraq can be renamed the Hundred Years War II. That’s what the man knows… or claims to know. I’m not doubting his honor in serving our country. In fact, I know about three other men who are just as honorable, having been POW’s in Viet Nam. And, without a doubt, it is truly an honor to know them. Personally, I can’t imagine what existence had to have been for them during the years they were held in captivity.
But, wouldn’t one think that after having been a POW, McCain wouldn’t want to turn the War in Iraq into the war of the century? Yet, as I listened to him during the last Republican debate and on Meet the Press this past Sunday it became clear to me that the man has no intentions of getting anyone out of Iraq in his lifetime. Even if PEACE were to break out world wide he would want to keep soldiers there. Just goes to show that when the only tool you have is a hammer, everything starts to look like a nail.
