Is it really a two-person race in the Democratic primaries? That’s hard to say.
There are lots of endorsements flying around right now. Everyone is vying for another big name to put on his/her list of supporters.
But, in the midst of everything that has been reported in recent days, one thing that has gone unnoticed, or in the alternative unreported, by the media is that John Edwards is gaining momentum at least from his supporters. According to reports, Edwards’ campaign is on the verge of raising more money for the candidate in January than in any three month period heretofore. Perhaps, that hasn’t been noticed by the ballot count to date, but I believe that at least some of us… and a growing number of us… are beginning to realize that Edwards is the one with the original plans of how to heal the country.
I would suggest that Edwards was the first to come out with a comprehensive economic stimulus package… way back in December, when it would have mattered. Edwards has a healthcare plan that is universal. Edwards has a plan for the future of energy in America. Besides being first with his plans, it seems that the other two candidates closely copy his plans for the future.
Maybe because he knows he’s the underdog in this race, not bringing loud ringing old school endorsements or celebrity status, Edwards is willing to speak his mind, call it like he sees it. Maybe because Edwards owes nothing to the establishment he isn’t afraid to stand and say what everyone else would like to have the freedom to say. Maybe he has struck a cord with the masses of people who aren’t just looking for hope, but hope with a plan. Maybe Edwards is gaining momentum, at the very least enough momentum and enough support to get his message out to the people.
