Thank God, Chris Dodd stepped out of the presidential race.  Can we only imagine what could have happened if he had not returned to Washington and taken up the cause to protect the people from the government.

Since returning to the Senate full time, Senator Dodd has shown America what a leader really is.  And, he is a leader!

If left to the Republicans and the President, Big Brother would not only continue to have big eyes, but big ears.  The lawless wire-tapping that the President instituted to spy on American citizens is about to run out of time on February 5th.  While the President insists that we continue to sit on our hands with our heads up our butts, Senator Dodd has led the fight against spying on us.  Senator Dodd has stood up in the Senate and threatened filibuster to allow us time to gather enough ‘nay’ votes to turn back the Republicans.

The fight isn’t over.  But, for now, it’s on hold.  That’s today.  Who knows what tomorrow will bring?  The President will pull whatever strings he can still grasp to get what he wants. 

Amid all the scavenging for votes to protect Americans, with support from enough senators to stall the bills, it was Senator Chris Dodd who took to the floor of the Senate and stood up for the American people and our rights.  Yes, we still have a few left that the have not been secretly taken away while we slept.  But, thanks to Senator Dodd, we have another day to fight.

This isn’t a first for Senator Dodd.  I won’t go into his history, but I will say that of all the Senators, repeatedly on issues that directly affect the American citizen, Senator Chris Dodd has led the fight for our rights.  He’s one of those people who gives us a reason to say, “Proud to be an American.”  Dodd is a champion for the people and of the people.
