Warm Up the Printing Presses: Bush Proposes $3 Trillion Budget

Now, which of those Republican candidates are running on a platform that claims they are more fiscally responsible than the Democrats?

Among the headings in the Proposal are the economic stimulus package initiatives.  But, the real kickers are “Ensure Sustained Prosperity” (for whom?), “Keeps America Safe” (and makes no-bid contractors and vendors even richer),  and “Balances the Budget by 2012″.  I’m betting that on the ”balanced budget” someone in the administration is praying all the hype about end-times and the Mayan calendar are true and we won’t be around in 2012 to hold anyone accountable.

According to MSNBC:

“Two key principles guided the development of my budget - keeping America safe and ensuring our continued prosperity,” Bush said in his budget message to Congress.

Reviewing the budget with his Cabinet, Bush said it would keep the economy growing and protect the U.S. militarily. He called it “innovative” because it was dispatched to Congress electronically.

Aside from the astronomical figures Bush proposed, the idea of continuing prosperity as we face a recession makes me wonder if Bush realizes that America, “we, the people”, isn’t limited to his chronies.

If he thinks sending the proposal to Congress “electronically” is “innovative” we have to wonder how far behind the times he really is.  Maybe it’s that caveman “It’s a wheel” mentality that has spurred his five years of “hunter” instinct.

As hard as it may be, it’s up to Congress to hold him in check for the next year.  And, if they don’t… maybe there should be more change coming… not just in the White House.
