John McCain Does Not Cast Vote on Stimulus Package

John McCain was a no show in the Senate for the vote on the stimulus package.  In fact, McCain has missed more votes than either Clinton or Obama since this run for the White House began.  But, of particular interest is McCain’s no show this week.

Why would McCain choose absence over his duty to vote on the stimulus package, a bill that will affect so many Americans?  After all, the Senate added only $40 billion to the bill… and that $40 billion was added to include the elderly and disabled veterans

Well, according to McCain, he would have voted against the amended bill because of the extra $40 billion it added.  Ah!  McCain talking fiscal responsibility by voting against disabled veterans is totally offensive to me.  Not all veterans married well.  Not all veterans are able to work.  That’s why they are labeled “disabled” and to deny them a paltry $300 or so because our government would rather continue to pay no-bid contracts to conservative cronies is absolutely heinous.

McCain has stated that he will support the war in Iraq as long as it takes… of course, no one knows how long that will be… although he did throw out a number… something like 100 years!  At the present rate of $10 billion per month, a now conservative estimate, to keep the war of old me going, it just seems to me that $40 billion is a drop in the bottomless bucket.

So, McCain, how would you support the disabled veterans?  Not showing up is not the answer.
