Terminate Deputy Charlette Jones
Deputy has been suspended for dumping quadriplegic out of wheelchair at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Department, Tampa Florida.
The video, (oh, yes… there is a video) shows the officer dumping Brian Sterner from his wheelchair when he entered the department for booking of a traffic violation. (Video is on sidebar.)
According to a local television station in Tampa:
Deputy Charlette Jones has been relieved of her duties without pay pending the outcome of an investigation. She has not officially been terminated.
Ah! Can someone say “Terminate!”
While there are reports of police brutality running out of control throughout the country, we should have the right to expect our “authorities” to be held to a higher standard. Granted, some people just don’t have the patience for the job, no matter what the job may be.
No one would have ever thought of a priest as a pedophile. We all know that the world has pedophiles, but we hold (or should be able to hold) priests to a higher standard, if for no other reason than they took on the life mission that set them up as an authority figure. And, like it or not, authority figures, whether elected or appointed should be held to a higher standard than the rest of us sinners.
And, a sheriff’s department…. those people we teach our children are “community helpers”… should definitely be held to a higher standard, especially in this case. Deputy Charlette Jones should be terminated… should have been terminated on the spot.
