David Marks Says Media Squeezed Candidates Out of Races

David Marks, senior editor of Politico, on CBS in the middle of the night news stated that the media could freeze Mike Huckabee out of the presidential race in the same manner they had gotten rid of the second tier candidates, leaving Clinton, Obama, McCain, and Huckabee.

This came after a news clip of George H.W. Bush endorsing John McCain while making the comment that it had been hard for him to drop out of the race in 1980.  Mr. Marks said Bush 41 was sending a message to Mike Huckabee.  But when questioned on what it would take to get Huckabee out of the race, Marks told Marie Oliver that they (the media) would just have to quit covering him, the same way they had done with other candidates.

Mr. Marks went on the say that media coverage was all that was sustaining Huckabee now.  He suggested that if Huckabee received no further coverage he would drop out just as the other candidates had.

Well, I guess that pretty well answers that question.  We all knew the media was determining the race.  Now, David Marks has said as much.  It’s a sad day when the media admits that they can control our next presidential election.
