March 8: Week in Review

Well, it’s the end of another week… and what a week it was…

Hillary whined and cried and pouted her way onto Saturday Night Live and The Daily Show.  Media bias isn’t anything new to most of us.  It wasn’t important to anyone in the media until the Senator from New York decided to screech about it.  Too late for some, but at least it did draw attention.  Maybe this week Obama will try a little bias talk and get some media coverage.

For a few days we thought we would have a Democratic nominee, but we didn’t after Tuesday and we don’t after today.

The media bias showed up on Tuesday night.   Clinton was awarded Texas in addition to Ohio and Rhode Island, but when the counting was done Texas belonged to Obama by three.  Of course, there is no need to mention the little error on the news.  Obama got the majority of delegates and delegates are what really count.  That’s twice we have seen that happen.

A group in California is suing for mental health care for our returning military.  Another national disgrace…. not the lawsuit, but the need for it.

For a couple of days it looked as if the House would give into the Bush-Cheney spy bill, then it didn’t.  Hoyer wanted to give Bush his way.  Pelosi didn’t.  Now they are discussing the bill.  Who knows?  It’s probably just a matter or time, but the Dems in the House gets a HOOOO-AH! for trying.  Now, if they can just stick to their principles.

The media jumped on the Obama-Rezko connection again and again.  They seem to have overlooked the fact that Tony Rezko was a big contributor to the Bill Clinton campaign.  (Explains the His and Her Clinton picture with Rezko.)  And Tony Rezko was a co-chair of a Bush fundraiser to the tune of several million dollars.  Let us not forget about Senator Clinton’s ties to Norman Hsu or John McCain’s seat as one of the Keating 5.  Okay…. all the dirt is on the floor.

Bush decides to speak up and say that giving the telecoms amnesty is not amnesty and he wants FISA now.  He wants the Senate version or he will VETO it…. and we know he will.  He VETOed the Anti-Torture Bill, because waterboarding gets information that we couldn’t get otherwise.  So, it’s open season.

Speaking of not amnesty, letting the undocumented immigrants stay in the country and pay a fine is “not amnesty”, and who cares what you call it anyway?  We have to have something to argue about… may as well be amnesty or not amnesty.

The soliders have been in Iraq too long and they are tired and stressed according to a general.  Deaf ears.  So, we will just keep sending them back to Iraq until we send Bush back to Texas.

Congress held hearings on why the CEO’s made so much money breaking down the the mortgage system for personal greed while we all lost our mortgages.  The FBI is going to investigate Countrywide.  And, by the way, the mortgage companies dumped all our financial records in dumpsters so they are readily available for every dumpster diver.  The FTC said it wasn’t right, but it wasn’t wrong enough to take action.

Clinton’s campaign compared Barack Obama to Ken Starr.  Samantha Power let her mouth overload her ass and called Senator Clinton a monster.  Isn’t that a step up from bitch?  (SNL)  Clinton’s staff is in tact.  Power is gone.

John McCain’s “how-to fix the economy” rests on community colleges where students can learn to be drivers for Chick-Fil-A or how to fry a chicken.  Seems that Senator McCain has a steadfast plan to raise our cholesterol if not our incomes.  He has no plan for creating more jobs.  He isn’t even sure if that is a “federal” problem.

Wyoming was freezing as the Democrats broke all kinds of records, coming out en masse to attend caucuses.  Obama won.

And, the check isn’t in the mail, but the letter saying it will be in the mail is in the mail….

…. and all is well.
