Well, the first report a month or so ago was that Obama had actually won 3 more delegates than Obama after all the Texas state primary and caucus votes and rocks had been counted. But, today we learned that Texas was holding out on the count, perhaps. Over the weekend the delegate count came to a grand finale.
According to the AP
Sen. Barack Obama has won the overall delegate race in Texas thanks to a strong showing in Democratic county conventions this past weekend.
Obama picked up seven of nine outstanding delegates, giving him a total of 99 Texas delegates to the party’s national convention this summer. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won the other two, giving her a total of 94 Texas delegates, according to an analysis of returns by The Associated Press.
We knew it was going to be a mess. And, forget that slogan “Don’t Mess With Texas.” It’s time someone told them not to mess with us… or at least with the delegates. So, now after all the counting and recounting and shuffling along and county conventions, it seems that we have a winner… for a while, at least.
Obama has been “officially” declared the winner in the delegate count. Of course, Clinton will try to claim a popular vote win. But, it will be the delegates that count in Denver and unless something changes, Obama won the majority of the delegates.
