Okay, so what’s up with this? Is this another reason not to trust Hillary Clinton?
This week two Colombian officials confirmed they had met with Clinton Adviser Mark Penn, a lobbyist, to discuss a bi-lateral trade deal. Isn’t that something Hillary said she opposed? At least after she supported it?
According to the Wall Street Journal:
Attendance by the adviser, Mark Penn, was confirmed by two Colombian officials.
…
Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, Mr. Penn’s campaign-consulting firm, received more than $10 million in payments from the Clinton campaign as of the end of February, according to federal election filings.
Mr. Penn declined to comment. Howard Wolfson, communications director for Sen. Clinton’s campaign, said in an email that “Mark was not there on behalf of the campaign” and referred further questions to Burson-Marsteller.
….
The spokeswoman for the Colombian Embassy, Sandra Ocampo Kohn, confirmed Thursday that Mr. Penn met Monday with Ambassador Carolina Barco Isakson, as talks have intensified over passage of the trade deal. Ms. Kohn said she wasn’t authorized to provide details.
Okay, so does this mean that Mark Penn was representing his company or Hillary Clinton? We may never know for sure. Natually, the Clinton campaign denied it, but…
Needless to say, Clinton made a big deal of one of Obama’s advisers meeting with a Canadian official before the Ohio primary and after the last debate. So, does Clinton need to better explain this meeting? The campaign is going to deny it was a Clinton motivated move. We know that. But, will be ever know the real truth?
