The Senate Passes Housing Help Bill

The bill the Senate passed today to help slow down the foreclosure blood letting will never make it through the House without alterations.  But, that’s the way of the Congress.  It cannot go without saying that in an overwhelming 84 to 12 vote, the Senate took action.

The bill is a little lopsided, favoring builders more than present homeowners.  There seems to be little included in the bill that will help you or me stay in our houses, but it was a first effort.  It would be delusional to think the House will pass the bill as it stands, but at the very least some action is being taken.

There is an inclusion clause for foreclosure counseling, and while that is welcomed, it won’t stop the bleeding.  But, let’s face reality, there is little anyone or any governmental body can do right now that will have an immediate impact on homeowners or the country.  It took time to get into the mess and like it or not, it is going to take time to turn the economy around.

Now, if the Congress would remember that the individual consumers are the ones at the bottom of the barrel.  We are the ones who need some assistance.  Without us, no matter how much businesses are propped up, they cannot succeed.
