Before Night Falls Pennsylvania Will Be Back to Normal

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have trash talked and played smash mouth enough for one season.  I’m sure the citizens of Pennsylvania got more than they bargained for.  As I have always been told, “Be careful what you wish for.”  States like Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Indiana have long been the icing on the cake as far as primaries go, seldom seeing a candidate before some primaries.  Not so this year.

The nail biting down to the wire race will give some relief to Pennsylvanians this evening.  The citizens will cast votes for their choice of Democratic presidential hopefuls until almost dinner time and by tomorrow, all that will be left will be a yard signs and a little litter.  But, all in all, it will be business as usual.

The candidates have toured the country this season like a traveling carnival, quite often providing a hit of a side show.  Last night Obama, Clinton, and even McCain made an “announcement” on some wrestling program.  Hillary trying to compare herself to A-Rod, proclaiming herself Hill-Rod, and Obama hinting that the kitchen isn’t too hot for him to handle.  I guess McCain’s appearance was for the sake of equal time.

The candidates have done everything except high wire acts to get votes.  And, apparently Pennsylvania did seen 300,000 previously unregistered citizens sign up to cast a vote in the Democratic primary.  But, without a miracle….

Will the race be decided today?  No.  For all the pundits and pollsters, nothing will be decided today.  Mathmatically, it is impossible.  Thinking one or the other of the candidates will throw in the towel is improbable.  So, the race drags on as the candidates move south and west from Pennsylvania.

But, it will be interesting to see if any of the pollsters come close with their analysis and predictions, won’t it?  They have been so wrong all season that betting on the polls is almost more interesting than betting on the winner or loser.
