Plowing Through the Farm Bill… Again

First there was the Farm Bill.  Then there was the Farm Bill fiasco, not the it mattered because Bush was going to veto it anyway.  Now, there’s the complete Farm Bill again.  And, it’s expected, as previously announced, that Bush will veto it again.

The Senate passed a Farm Bill for the second time Thursday afternoon, after a clerical error in the printing of the bill led to the omission of parts of the legislation when it was sent to the president last month.

However, the vote will likely not be the last word on the measure, as President Bush already vetoed the incomplete bill once and is sure to do so again.

By a vote of 77-15, the Senate re-passed the bill, which this time included the missing title, which contains trade and international food aide provisions.

The House voted 306-110 last month to approve a new Farm Bill that also included the omitted section.

The bill is headed to the White House.  It will be vetoed.  Then, it will be up to the Senate to override the veto… if they can get the votes.  Otherwise, it’s back to the drawing boards.
