A few days ago, Chief Judge Alex Kozinski of the 9th Circuit, was outed for his stash of pornographic materials uploaded to a website.  Too late… the material has been removed.

Judge Kozinski’s propensity for porn came to light while he was the sitting judge on Ira Isaacs’ porn and obscenity case in Los Angeles.  Truth is stranger than fiction, but I can see this becoming a made for tv movie.  Ira Isaacs is on trial for producing obscene movies that reportedly included lots of urination and defecation amid a pornographic setting.  Judge Alex Kozinski somehow ended up as the trial judge.  Kozinski sits on the Court of Appeals, but as with those judges, occasionally they preside over trials.  (The luck of the draw or I wonder if Kozinski asked to here this one?)  

During the trial it came to light that Kozinski had uploaded a wide variety of pornography to his own website.  And, he either thought it was private, or like so many people he has tried over the years, he thought he would never get caught.  Or, perhaps as a judge, he thought he was above the law.

The latest is that Judge Alex Kozinski has called for an investigation …. of himself.

 A federal judge who acknowledged maintaining his own publicly accessible website featuring sexually explicit photos and videos Thursday called for an investigation of his own conduct.

Alex Kozinski, 57, chief judge of the U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, asked a court ethics panel to initiate the proceedings after The Times reported Wednesday that the judge had posted lewd photos and videos on his personal website.

Now, in all fairness to the judge, maybe what he did is not all that bad in light of today’s society with all our perversions and aberrations.  Of course, there are calls from his supporters to lay off the judge.  But… I must say that a judge is held to a higher standard than the rest of us, presumably because he knows the law and has sworn to uphold it.
