According to the New York Times
Senator John McCain’s presidential campaign has gone through its second shake-up in a year as Mr. McCain, responding to Republican concerns that his candidacy was faltering, put Steve Schmidt in charge of day-to-day operations and abandoned an effort to have the campaign run by 11 regional managers, the senator’s aides said Wednesday.
Okay, so McCain has begun to listen to his Republican cohorts who recognized that McCain’s campaign has been without purpose or direction. Perhaps, this will get the “straight talk express” back on the track.
But, it does raise a question, doesn’t it? Sure, this is only a campaign, but what does it say about McCain’s leadership ability and decision making skills? Of course, from time to time every campaign and every company needs to add-on or fire someone. But, when an alliance falls apart two times in one year, it makes me question the decision making skills of the man at the helm.
Let’s face it, in the White House there aren’t many second chances or do-overs. Two mulligans in a year for McCain may tell us more about the candidate than he would want us to know.
