September 19, 2008: The Week in Review
Lehman Brothers got kicked out of bed.
By Monday night, Lehman was dead.
On Tuesday morning, AIG stumbled and fell.
The national economy was going to hell.
What should we do? They cried in fear.
Make the taxpayers pay. That much is clear.
The government asked, “How much do you need?”
“Eighty Billion Dollars should feed our greed.”
The corporations were dealing with too much risk.
Now we the citizens are the ones who are pissed.
But, the government isn’t through with us yet.
Let’s add even more to the national debt.
Bail out a billion here and a trillion there
We won’t tell the people. They’re unaware.
“We’re going to cut your taxes,” MaCain did say.
Don’t worry though, let your grandchildren pay.
Obama and Biden talked about what we should do.
It became obvious Palin hasn’t a clue.
What are your qualifications, someone did ask.
Rather than answer she took them to task.
Stump the candidate is a game you can play
That was the best she could think of to say.
Biden talked economics until blue in the face
With 49 days left in the presidential race.
We ended the week not knowing much more
Than we knew on Monday or the day before.
That’s the week we have seen from here.
What it all means still isn’t clear.
