A Closer Look at Rick Santorum’s Racist Remarks

With Rick Santorum rising in the Republican ranks, I was shocked to see that he is either racist or speaks before he thinks and is racist.  Either way, Mr. Santorum opened his mouth and offended many black Americans and many other Americans who thought we were beyond his racist thoughts — at least in politics.

“I don’t want to make black people’s lives better by giving them somebody else’s money; I want to give them the opportunity to go out and earn the money.”

This little dig at both African Americans and those of us who sit on the progressive (a/k/a liberal) side of the fence, was made just the past Sunday in Sioux City, Iowa at a campaign stop.  I would be most interested to hear an explanation of why Santorum selected “blacks” to attack or at the very least an excuse.  Of course, we all know that excuses only satisfy those who make them.

Much like the heat that Ron Paul received from old newsletters published under his name, it is hard to deny what is said or done in your name.  It is even harder to deny words that come straight from one’s mouth.  We are waiting for the excuse.
