Recently I was reading the Single Woman’s DIY Guide and was surprised that one of the first articles was about overalls. That’s right! Bib overalls!
A friend who practically lives in bib overalls suggested that I take a look at the new site. The last thing I expected was an article about overalls. Surprisingly, the first picture I saw was of a thin as a rail model walking the runway in a pair of overalls. Maybe there is something to this “Overalls Nation” my neighbor keeps talking about.
With a little time on my hands I made a trip to a local store that specializes in work wear. I bought a pair of bib overalls. Actually, I took my neighbor’s advice and bought a pair that are a little too large and were found in the men’s department. She swears they are more durable even if the fit is off a little. Maybe that’s the reason she insisted I buy a pair that is really too big and baggy.
I’m now into my third week of wearing overalls to do just about everything. I will never walk the model’s runway and my overalls are not form fitting, thank God. However, I have discovered my new uniform. For anyone who hasn’t given overalls a try, it may be time.
Let me give you a heads up on this apparel. Bib overalls can be purchased in a variety of weights, from heavy denim to lighter weight cotton. Colors? Pick a color! Overalls are available in every color you can think of.
I’m now wondering if this is like the time I bought a Toyota years ago. I had not seen that many before I bought mine. Then everywhere I looked I saw Toyotas. As I drove through our neighborhood the other day I noticed that about half the neighbors were clad in overalls, from the moms to the kids. We don’t live in a farming community. None of us are going to walk the runway. Could it be that overalls have hit the mainstream of fashion?
Must be. I hear that International Overalls Day is November 20th. Who would have guessed?
