This afternoon President Barack Obama addressed the press and the American people concerning the Christmas Day event that was a foiled act of terrorism aboard Flight 253 from Amsterdam to Detroit.
If anything was garnered from the speech it was that “we” will do a better job in the future. Apparently, the report that is described as shocking in some parts, reiterates the fact that there were dots and dots and more dots and none were connected.
Again, we are reminded that there was a total systemic failure of our national security program.
However, it seems that while so much emphasis is being placed airport and airline security once again we are faced with fighting a battle that seems to have moved on. Emphasis is on airlines and airports. We can only expect that Al Qaeda will change strategy. Just as we are now sending more troops to Afghanistan it seems that Al Qaeda has moved to Yemen. We are fighting yesterday’s battles today.
