In his first address to Congress, President Obama raised the hopes of Americans. According to a snap CBS poll the view of Americans toward the stimulus package increased about 15% during the speech.
The Republican reply to the Obama speech was less than stellar. Governor Jindal of Louisiana delivered the rebuttal. What the hell was he talking about? Did he watch the same Presidential speech we watched? Or, are the Republicans floundering for a position? Maybe Jindal didn’t even watch the speech President Obama delivered.
Whatever the answer, Jindal could have potentially harmed himself politically by seeming to recite the same old party line that helped get us into this economic crisis. Polls indicate that the majority of Americans believe that the Republican Party is not trying to reach across the isle. If Jindal’s response is any indication, we can almost assume that the Repubs can’t find the isle.
